Seems like a lot more people are downloading the prog stuff as opposed to the soul/gospel that we have been posting so far. I thought it would be the opposite. FYI, hundreds of you are downloading these songs. Just take a second to give me some feedback in the comments and you will get more stuff you like… Anyway, next up for Saturday morning samples is another Prog track. This time from an Italian prog group called Hydrus. The track is called “Milky Way”. You have a really spaced out section in the front that would be good to sample for a smoke out type record, then things get a little more lively. Enjoy & don’t forget to tune in next Saturday 9am EST for the next Saturday Morning Samples! Click more for the link…

Scorpio is right. We gotta show more support as a community. Share knowledge. Grow. Real talk. Dude is waking up before 8am on a saturday to deliver us professionally picked, potential filled, sample goodness.
I wanna ask everybody that comes to download a question:
What types of samples do you prefer. Rock, soul, techno. etc. And do you avoid vocals or not when sampling? THIS SHOULD BE INTERESTING. Thanks in advance everyone.
PS. Scorpio. May I suggest allowing download links to only be clickable when ppl arrive at the final/landing page for the post. Might encourage more ppl to comment, because they will get to see the comments. Just an observation. Bless. Thanks you for the dope sample!

FYI, I (Jim Bond) am not Scorpio61. We just host Scorpio’s mixes on this site. The Saturday Morning Sample stuff is from me. I can’t take credit for Scorpio’s mixes haha.

@ Jim, My apologies. I kinda knew that. Was too eager to type that morning :P. But yes I can definitely agree that in terms of sample preference. Progressive lends allot of possibilities compared to almost any other genre…to me at least. The progressive artist switch it up sooo much I find my self making multiple beats from one song.

One last thing. It would be awesome if there was a page dedicated to showcasing flips based on the material you provide us. Would also help to tighten the community.

I like that idea a lot and have thought about that before. I just really don’t have the time to hook it up right now. If everyone sticks around for another 8 months, I will have TONS of time though and this site will hopefully go to a whole new level…

This is badass and yeah top of the morning to ya Jim!

at 2:28 pm
Jim, I appreciate the samples you’ve been putting up and the hard work that you’ve put into your blog. Thanks…and please do elaborate on the “hate mail” you said you received for doing this.
at 10:07 pm
Haha it’s really nothing. People get salty because I am making it really easy for people to get good samples. Really I just put that out there cus it might make them more salty.
at 2:46 pm
Yes it would be much appreciated if you upload more prog rock i really got a lot of good feedback on the last prog rock sample i used from you..Thanks a lot
at 7:23 pm
Hey thanks for the samples Jim, I appreciate you for that so much and yea I like the prog rock as well but please upload some more of those soul joints, they always are on point!

Mr Bond, thank you for the excellent quality songs for sampling you have provided us with, its pure gold and some obscure gems……i prefer the soul side of things.
at 9:45 am
I really like a majority of records. Mainly records from overseas. I also try to look for samples that dont have drums in them.

I just want to say thanks for all the help you provide through this site i am just now getting into the production end of things, I got into creating music by writing lyrics since i was 10 and studio engineering since i was 14, i am now in my 30 and have decided to get into the production side of things. All i can say is that your site has made that transition so smooth and i cant say enough for that. The Saturday morning heat is ridiculous please don’t stop the music i have been into alot of foreign funk and r and b perhaps we can see some of that in a future Saturday release.
Keep em coming

I def appreciate the Saturday Morning Samples series I think its excellent and innovative. I really don’t prefer anyone type of sample. I just like music. What I can make from a sample is a gift soul, rock, jazz or otherwise. To me its all in the same vein.
at 8:45 pm
Hey Jim much props on posting these gems! I think one of the reasons people are downloading the Prog stuff over the soul/gospel stuff is because, the Prog samples relate to the current state of Rap, as such that people are sampling Indie Rock and such.
at 10:10 pm
Really good point… I didn’t really think of it that way. I rarely listen to the radio, but that makes sense.
at 9:20 am
Jim Bond is the man. Who else gives free quality samples on a regular basis? All you other sample/producer sites step your game up
at 1:09 pm
haha thanks
at 9:14 pm
Jim thank you very much for providing a great variety on Saturday Morning Samples series. You post a lot of dope samples. I don’t have a preference necessarily I like anything that sounds dope, so gospel, soul, prog, jazz, pop, bossa nova, r&b, sound tracks OST, strings, library, moogs LP’s and music from other countries in different languages. I think you can find samples in all records. I prefer to take pieces from different records and blend them. So keep doing what your doing your work is much appreciated as well as this site you have for us here. Thank you.

I’m definitely diggin’ the Prog Rock stuff, it definitely allows for some creativity but don’t stop that Soul…it’s the core to hip hop!
